Easter Egg Hunt at the GAHM with Alpine Dancers & Singers ~ Sat, 4/08

The GAHM is excited to host its first German-American Easter egg hunt. Please join us at 2 PM for Easter arts and crafts, an Easter egg hunt in the museum as well as coffee and cake. At 3 PM the Alpine Dancers and Singers will join us.

The Alpine Dancers are a performing and teaching folk dance group specializing in couples and trio dances from Austria, Germany and Switzerland. They perform throughout the greater Washington area.  Founded by Herbert and Carol Traxler in 1991, the Alpine Dancers specialize in teaching and performing intricate figure dances from the German-speaking countries.

The Alpine Singers perform Austrian and German folk music, in German or in a regional German or Austrian dialect. The singing repertoire includes songs for all seasons.

 

Tentative program, subject to change:

The Alpine Singers will perform: Kein schöner Land, Heidenröslein, Und i håb dir in die, Steirer Dreier, Då draussen im Wåld, Iß mit mir, I tua wås i will. Hodaroiri, Auf die Berg, Das Dirndl, dås håt hålt, A ganze Weil.

 

The Alpine Dancers will perform some or all of following folkdances from Germany and Austria: Broatnbacher Walzer, Gschlööfter, Mazurka aus St Lorenzen, Pinzgauer Wickler, Finsterauer Landler, Hammerschmiedsgselln, Masolka zu Dritt, Buchholzer mit Walzer, Kärntner Walzer, Bergerlandler, Kurnauer Duarl.
